Just over the hill on the west coast of Wellington, lies a hidden gem for discerning food enthusiasts. Our commitment to sustainable practices and a deep appreciation for the bountiful resources of the Wellington coastline have culminated in a local source of free-range, grass-fed beef and lamb that is truly exceptional.


The Farm
Huiawa is a free-range, grass-fed sheep and cattle farm nestled in the hills of Ohariu Valley. We guarantee our meat is antibiotic and hormone free. Our two major priorities are animal welfare and the environment they live on. As custodians of the land we strive to leave it in a better place than when we started. Sustainabillity is a key ethos in how we operate.


The Meat
Our animals are grown on diverse hill country pastures that are constantly dusted by Wellington's salt laden winds, resulting in our unique flavour that we want to share. Our breeding focuses on high yielding carcases with good levels of marbling. This gives our meat tenderness and flavour your palate will enjoy.
For the conscious consumer, our meat has some of the lowest food miles in Wellington. We are only 8km away from Wellington CBD and no other red meat products are grown closer. We’re proud to be locals, growing local meat for Wellingtonians to share.
